The University of Technology hosted the participants of the section «Space Science and Society» of the XLVIII International Social and Scientific Readings dedicated to the memory of Yuri Gagarin.
Before the start of the Gagarin Readings, an excursion to the Space Museum of the University of Technology was organized, where guests could get acquainted with unique exhibits and photographs revealing interesting facts from the biography of S.P. Korolev, Yu.A. Gagarin and A.A. Leonov.
The work of the section «Space Science and Society» began with a welcome speech by Natalia Babina, Vice-Rector for Educational and Methodological Work of the University of Technology , who wished everyone success and a fruitful day. The section was chaired by Yuri Sidelnikov, Chief Researcher of the Institute of Control Sciences of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Professor of Moscow Aviation Institute, and Sergei Avdeev, pilot-cosmonaut, Hero of the Russian Federation.
In total, 26 reports from leading scientists, researchers and specialists of the largest enterprises of the rocket and space industry and research institutes of our country were presented at the Gagarin Readings at the University. Their topics covered such important issues as the use of new information and laser technologies in the space industry, the possibility of building extraterrestrial bases on the Moon and Mars, as well as modern approaches to solving economic and psychological problems in the field of space science.
Along with famous scientists, the students of the University of Technology presented their reports at the readings. They offered their developments and ideas on the use of solar sails in the rocket and space industry, a portable high-altitude Earth sensing system, a multifunctional power center for supersonic and hypersonic unmanned aerial vehicles, etc.
As a result of the section «Space Science and Society» work, the best research was awarded with diplomas, and at the end of the year a collection of scientific papers of all participants of the XLVIII Gagarin Readings will be published.
